Let's toss the coin, shall we?

Every so often in our lives, we would come to a situation where we are required to make a choice before we are able to move further. Most of the times the choices we have to make mostly revolves around mundane things such as what colour shirt should we wear with that favourite pair of jeans, or do we choose to drag our laurels out of bed to go to that class or slip back under the covers because the rain had created an oh-so-comfy atmosphere that just begs you to continue sleeping. Small, innocuous choices in life that doesn't really leave that big of an impact in your life (unless you had chosen the wrong colour combination. Stripes and swirls in severe contrasting colours DO NOT match, so spare us the pain, quit trying @@")

However, how about decisions which affect the BIG issues? BIG issues here referring to major ones hokay, not those remeh-temeh ones such as "Adakah ia wajar untuk saya makan walaupun sebenarnya tak lapar, tapi pasal orang belanja so nak makan jugak wthimerepek" kind of issues. I mean those issues that could affect not only yourself but also to those around you.

Actually, lemme correct that, let's just deal with decisions which could affect those around you. Kalau nak buat semua, harusla sampai tahun depan tak settle-settle lagi =.="

Time and again, I find myself in the awkward situation where I am torn deciding between two (or more) options. Pilih option A, I sakit hati but Bedah (bukan nama sebenar) gumbira, while pilih option B, stake interest I selamat tapi Bedah pulak saket hati. Nak jaga hati/hak sendiri, orang kata self-centred tapi kalau asyik fikir orang lain, habis kepala kena pijak. Heck, bukan sekadar kepala, segalanya dipijaknya! *seethes in aggravation*

Hmm..I do believe this is turning into one of those RAGE posts. Dayum.

Needless to say I am up to my neck with trying to balance out considering other peoples' feelings while making sure I don't bend over backwards while doing it. As whiny as this is going to sound, I'm tired of it. Tired of being there for you when you don't even care. Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking you to thank me everytime I do you a favour, but have some common decency to at least realize what other people do for you. Don't ever take people for granted because seriously, your actions might just be the thing which will push other people away.

Oh and another thing, try to realize that people who can laugh and chill with you on the good days are not necessarily your real friends. I mean think about it, yes they're cool and they're fun to be with and all BUT, try to remember when things get rough and circumstances around you seem bleak, which of those people are there for you? And being there for you, I don't mean just being able to text you or call you through the phone. Heck, we have the local BeFrienders telephone helpline for those kind of things =_= The existence of such services proves that everyone has the ability to listen, from the cute guy you were making sheep eyes with in the library to the annoying git you had to share a table with in the mamak shop. The point I'm trying to point out here is that EVERYONE can listen, but can we say for sure that everyone has the ability (and patience) to stay and help? Haruslah tak kan? At the rough times baru most of us realize that those people whom you can laugh and gossip the day away are conveniently absent when you need them the most. Distance is not a defense, if they really care they can travel 73463264923865kms. And don't diss people just because you guys don't see eye to eye on certain issues. You both have valid points, not everything needs to be agreed upon. Learn to agree to disagree =\

Oh and one other thing and this goes to everyone (including myself ><"). Don't ask for advice if you're just only gonna reject it. Yes, there are some advices given that its stupid to follow, for example:

Girl A : Babe..I'm so depressed..I caught my boyfie cheating on me..AGAIN..what should I do..eventhough its the 287435734858 time he's done it, but I still love him...

Girl B : Don't give up, I'm sure he'll change one day...just hang in there kay...

POOOTTTTTTT WRONG ADVICE!! Those kind of advices are like the perfect recipe for a lifetime of heartache. Give your friend a chance, tell her to just ditch the ass.

Before anybody comes out in righteous anger, take awhile and ponder about this. Yea, it might sound extremely presumptious of me to support "meddling" in other people's lives BUT take into account that certain situations calls for intervention. Would you sit back and watch a beloved friend continue making choices which hurts her? Tak kan? =\

Tapiiiii...an advisor must be prepared to take on the burden of making sure that whatever advice you give do not completely influence the mind of the advisee (is there even such a word?). I know this doesnt make sense but i'll try to simplify it.

Advisor : Has the duty to point out the issues and (maybe, depending on situation) lay out the possible remedies which could be taken by the person in question. An advisor has to be neutral and objective. They cannot be swayed by prejudice as bias as this could affect in unrealistic or illogical advice. Plus an advisor has to be prepared to face the consequences if things go bad due to some of the advice given.

Advisee (the poor soul that has the problem) :
Has the obligation to listen (cause dia yang tanya opinion, kena dengar ar) and digest what is being said BUT he/she then has the sole responsibility to go back and decide on their own. They cannot, and I repeat CANNOT take the advice given just like that without ruminating on the pros and cons. This is because if they choose to act upon those advice and things go awry, they cannot blame the advisor. In the end, it was their choice to act upon the advice.

Its this kind of burden that makes me reluctant to give advice at times. Yea I know I have the "mak tiri" nickname with my housemates cause I like to nag and all, but whenever people come to me regarding serious issues, I have a serious problem whether to say anything at all. Dahla tengah sure tak sure samada its appropiate to intervene or not, then when you do say something but you see the advice masuk telinga kanan, keluar telinga kiri, I think I have valid cause to be annoyed. Then you realize that when these people come to you with their problems, they're not looking for solutions, they're just looking for a sympathetic ear. Sorry chicas, if you're looking for someone to layan you, go talk to someone, or better yet, get a plushie. They can give you the perfect blank stare as I would give if you come to me. Sekali dua boleh lah kot I layan, but selalu sangat dengar benda sama, even a monk could go mad @@"

Choices indeed.

YESSSSS~~!! YATTAAAAAA~!! 2 DOWN, 5 TO GOOOOO~!!

The two things being referred to here would be my BEL (English subject) and my Mandarin (Third Language subject)

(calms down)

Hyaa~ The above jeritan batin (soul cry?) is in regards to me finishing two of this semester's subject. These two subjects are 100% based on assessment which had been carried out all thorough the semester, and thus it does not have a final paper during the examination period. Some people are of the opinion that this system is better as you do not need to wrack your brain at the end of the semester and putting all your hopes of scoring (or passing in certain desperate situations *gulps), in ONE paper. However, it also means that you would basically be on stress-mode ALL-THOROUGHOUT the semester all everything test, assignment and presentation counts.

Oh and add on the fact that 5% of your marks come from "class participation", you start seeing various people doing the monkey-act often in class. Monkey-act I'm referring to here would be the whole rising in class and randomly asking questions to which we either already know the answer to or merely because we want to stand-out in class. I'm guessing this new system was implemented with the intention to help make students' lives easier as we would have less subjects to study for during finals. I don't know, I myself am of the opinion that I like this system as i'm don't seem to be able to score fantabulously in the finals, but some of my friends despise it. Needless to say, this issue is still open for debate =\

This is basically a view of all of us scrambling to present our BEL assignment, 30% of our lives, eh-i mean our marks depend on us performing well here. With that in mind, of course i just had to have a mild panic attack while presenting. Bah, malas nak fikir, as long as its over and done with =_=

Harh! Last minute menyiapkan presentation, kantoi!

Ayuni doing her thang on "Honour-Killing". Your video rawks beb, berbaloi you main 5-10-40 kali dekat kitaorang to get our approval >p

Overall, we're all glad these two subjects are over and done with. Hopefully all turns out well and we won't have to be bothered by it again next semester. Hasta la vista bebeh!!

On a random note, I have (finally!) bought a new tupperware for my beloved snacking partner~

Yes. I love it to the extent that it requires new tupperware every few years or so. Don't question my love and loyalty. Nak gaduh? >E

I basically had numerous choices as to what type of tupperware I want my lavlies to be stored in. Do I want the one which is high-and-opens-at-the-top, or the low-wide-necked-easy-to-use one? Hmm decisions decisions...

Pondering the question of life and death 'ere. What 'chu think?

While I was busy balancing out the pros' and cons' of each type tupperware, needless to say my family left me as they thought I was being anal about it. Pfftt, penting weyhhh benda ni, maneleh pakai pilih je >( After 10 minutes, my sister basically told me to hurry it up or risk being left at the supermarket, BOO!)

Ta-da~! Ding-ding-ding! The low-wide-neck-easy-to-use tupperware wins!

May you (the tupperware) serve thy master well *jedi style*

I have succumbed.

It is now 11.17 pm at night, and I have yet to touch my Mandarin books. Yes, I have finals for Mandarin tomorrow. Behold my procrastinating skillz! (I am so screwed >_<") Anyways, today has been filled with eating, eating, and more eating! and since I'm naturally lazy (refer to above), I shall leave it to my rajin + takde kerje + gigih sistahs to blog about it =P Don't forget to talk about the kitty uolls! In the meantime, to commemorate my feeling of crankyness plus nervousness due to the fact of finals being just around the corner plus a few other issues which would not be prudent to divulge here, I dedicate this song to all youse people.

FANTINE (LES MISERABLES) - I DREAMT A DREAM

There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.

Mana pernah lambung-lambung gomol-gomol! Pinkie promise XD

Now, let's move on to the most common topic this month; Raya celebrations!

Yeayea, i can imagine whats going through everyone's minds; Pusing kanan raya, pusing kiri raya. Ape lagi borak pasal raya!?!? Lame! Boring! Move on!

Well my dears, the only thing i can reply to that would be; DAH NAMA PUN RAYA MENGONG. Deal with it! Don't be a scrooge and spoil the mood for everyone else. If you can't stand it, then stay at home for the whole ramadhan month. No one's forcing you to join the fun =\

Hmm. I just noticed that in every post I will have one segment where I will rant at the general public. Anger management problem perhaps? hmhm..hahahaha-erk =X

ANYWAYS, moving with the raya issue.

This is the debut year where the Ruslan family celebrates raya in Kay-ell (Kuala Lumpur for those who don't speak the lingo). I must say, the experience is indeed extremely different this time around. True we don't get to experience the authentic raya experience such as ;

1) Gaduh-for-the-bathroom in the morning with all your cousins and uncles and aunties
2) Argueing with smaller cousins for who gets to sit at the 'adult table' during mealtimes
3) Argueing with smaller cousins as who gets to choose which channel tv to watch during "family time"
4) Argueing with smaller cousins as to whose duit raya was it that was left on the tv in the living room.
5) Argueing with smaller cousi--(ehh banyaknya gaduh dengan cousin, woops kantoi! XD)
) sneaking off whenever guests come to visit as we gals malas nak bancuh teh-o (seriously people, tau la baru habis puasa sebulan. But dang, you all drink like camels @@)
6) And numerous other things! Senang cerita, whatever it is that you can think of COULD happen whenever a big number of people congregate in one place, WILL happen. The best thing we can do is sit back and hope everyone survives the ordeal.

I'm painting the experience as if its a harrowing event, however it is not so. Yea, its annoying when your 5 year-old cousin with kyooter hair gets to cut in line to the bathroom just because she needs to do her lady business but oh well, its a once a year event. The rest of the year seniority rules supreme missy! So move aside! *shoves* Mwahahahahaha >)

Uhhum *calms self*

Meanwhile, raya-ing in town is a different thing altogether. No more argueing whose turn is it to go to the bathroom as everyone can do their business in the comforts of their own home (Yeayy to indoor pumbing!) and no more being sent out to some makcik's house to borrow/buy some random kitchen ingredient as the on-slaught of guests have finished up all the stock. And to top it all off, at the end of the day, no more having to force yourself to sleep while being lullaby-ed by daddy dearest's and Pak Chu's synchronized snoring. I swear, at the rate and volume they were going at it, you would think that they were trying to out-snore the other o_O"

When you compare both situations together, you would get the impression that raya-ing at home/kay-ell is way better but i beg to differ. Neither one is better than the other. Both has it good and bad points. In a way I do think I prefer going back to Kuala Kangsar @ Rembau but as the circumstances doesn't really permit, nothing else to do but to make the best out of it no? =3

Overall, Raya '09 will be remembered as the year where the we didn't go to raya, but raya came to US >D

(oh-so-lame-jingle but I MADE IT SO TERIMA SEADANYA >E)

In the meantime, here's some images as to how raya '09 was all about.

Kepada semua rakan-rakan saya samada di Selangor mahupun di Perlis (senang cerita anybody who knows me). I berhajat nak berkunjung ke rumah korang dan beraya. I really feel the whole visiting each other's house during raya tradition is going to die out if we young'uns don't take an active role to ensure its preservation (chewah alasan, padahal nak makan free)

MAKA, bukalah pintu rumah anda dan bersedialah untuk ketibaan saya!

Till then, cheerio~!

Talking is fun. Does thinking that make me a typical girl?

"The thing i hate about arguments is that it interrupts a discussion"
G.K. Chesterton

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where people asked you what is it that you like to do in your spare time and when you answer it, they just give you the blank stare as if they're saying, "You gotta be kidding me..".

I have.

And that's because my answer to that sort of question is, "I like to talk whenever i have the time". More often than not, I would get the routine blank stare and then slight shake of the head which usually signifies that the other person thinks I'm a complete airhead for not having a more sophisticated or l33t hobby. Well~ To those annoying people, scr--(ala bulan puasa takleh curse la pulak) may you get a life, i don't judge your lame social life so butt out of mine! >(

(Hrm. I am getting a tad emotional here)

ANYWAY~ Back to the point which I am trying to convey; Talking is F-U-N. However, it must be noted that the type of talking which i am referring to here is not just the typical girl gossip you usually see girls (who else! XD) do in the school corridor between classes. I mean those kinds of discussions where each party throws in their opinions or suggestions regarding some particular topic without any worry of being condemned for their thoughts. I guess what I'm referring to is an "open table" kind of discussion. I must say, I enjoy these kind of social interaction as it broadens my knowledge and also in a way trains me to open up my mind to other people. This is the main reason why I'm enjoying my elective subject this semester; Law and Philopsophy.

Most of my friends have commented that they find the class a tad (ok, i lied. They find it extremely boring) but truth be told, I enjoy the 2 hour classes which we spent mostly listening to our lecturer babble about the various philosophers and their school of thought. Yes, its undeniable that Mr.Haris's voice can be very soothing and sleep-inducing (sorry sir >_<") especially after the lunch period but i gotta say, the effort taken to fight off the sleep and listen to him is completely worth it. Not only is he well-versed and dedicated in his job, but he is also interesting as he is firm in his principles without offending another person's stance and beliefs. He once told us his experience of how he quit smoking;

Mr. Haris : I really wanted to quit smoking so this is what I did; I smoked my last cigarette and then nawaitu (niat) ,"Ya Allah, if I smoke another cigarette after this, I shall then become a murtad".

Can you spell D-R-A-S-T-I-C? Extreme action indeed, but he says it had worked. I'm not going to preach religion here but I really admire his iron-clad will. Now if only i can have that kind of willpower in terms of turning down food..hmm...

Another important factor about our lecturer that I would like to state here is that he encourages his students to speak their mind. As a result, during classes sometimes its become like a mini-parliament where opinions and suggestions are being thrown around. Sometimes it even seems like pandemonium is going to break loose but thank goodness Mr. Haris is there to steer us back into course =p Needless to say, trekking up the god-awful Cempaka hill each week for Philo class is not that depressing anymore ^_^

Moving on to less educational subjects~

Meet up with my lovable huggable (iye la tu, semua dah kurus. Peluk tulang je semua. Dengkiiiii >E) girlfriends of 9 years; Timei, Azi Papan and Sheila boyan~ I enjoy this bi-annual outings we do each time a certain minah comes homes from India XD

Kelakar weh bila pikir balik. You wouldnt expect it by looking at us, but the four of us are such nerds. Ada chance nak keluar tanduk pun tak larat yerrrrr balik bilik pukul 12 pasal ngantok. Like wth, orang lain in our situation dah hilang entah ke mane entah! XD Oh well, its this kind of childishness and "uniqueness" that makes us tight kot. Any way, i love you guyssss~~!! *glomps*

(left) Azi Papan yang kewl senantiasa
(right) Sheila boyan, mulut ter-"laju" di rantau Asia

Azi and Timei senyum candid ayu. Di tengah yang sedang buat aksi mak datin over tu boleh diabaikan.

Ni aksi je over, padahal tak makan pun. Corus Hotel is the first hotel I've been to that doesn't have nutcracker in their kitchen inventory. Kecewa dowh, ketam tu terpaksa ditinggalkan tak makan T--T
Capsquare yang sangatla menarik dengan lampu-lampu berirama pada waktu malam.
ANNNDDDDDD last but not least, the wajib picture of my sahur; Nasi Kandar from Pelita.

The things that happen in just a few blinks and unmonitered idle hours.

The things that happen in just a few blinks and unmonitered idle hours.

Pejam celik pejam celik, satu minggu dah berlalu.

Pejam celik pejam celik, one more round of buat muka toya dekat abang kat kedai Mister Kaya because my housemates (Fia and Ayuni) and I lepak berjam-jam guna wifi.

Pejam celik pejam celik, another tutorial di mana Puan Mina sidelined my group in regards of presenting our topic. Ma'ammm kami dah tak sanggup nak sakit jantung tiap-tiap minggu menunggu turn nak present. Please choose us next time around T--T

Pejam celik pejam celik, another week where I miss out on Alwi's random escapade's of "pancut-ting" at my mom during bathing time or any other time (even). Nakal yer Alwi. I fear the day if I ever get roped into changing his diaper @@" But putting the fear of baby boys and their inability to aim aside, I'm missing the lil tyke immensely. If not for the fact that my assignments and committments are piling up plus the risk of me carrying H1N1 virus balik rumah, I would be there 24/7 just watching the lil kiddo sleep the day away. Ahh..the life of leisure. (Jeles siot).

Sampai tahap dia akan nanges if no one holds him. Sekali ada orang pegang dia, terus diam yerrr (drama king gitew). Semoga my sister produces another sibling for him, or not habesslaaaaaaa @@"

Putting ogling of small kids aside, this week has been relatively uneventful. Our law & philosophy test was interesting. never knew I could write 5 pages of answer script in an hour. Hopefully I did well in that or not I swear I'm gonna burn my philo notes (nama pun open book test, kalau tak dapat markah itu salah rujukan!)

Hmm..

I am currently at a crossroad in my life. There's so many things to consider before I could decide. All the options laid down in front of me have their respective pros and cons. Issues such as do I put myself first or do I take into account the welfare of others as well creeps into my mind at every moment. I am at a loss as to what I should do. Hopefully i get an inkling as to what I should choose soon as one moment lost, is a moment gone forever.

God, give me a sign.

In sickness and in health.

I shall forever look back into the week where UiTM was closed for a week as the week filled with memorable events:

2) The H1N1 'scare' the moot team had when Izmil was sent to the Klang Hospital cause. (Thank god it wasnt so @@)

3) The day when THIS happened >D So sorry Khairil , it was too memorable not to be uploaded! XD
And another
Hehe thank goodness those abangs was passing by, or not tak dapekla kereta you keluar yerk dari longkang tu. All three of us harusla tak larat nak mengangkat, nama pun baru keluar Pusat Kesihatan. Stewpiak H1N1, disturbing all our plans je =.="

Ark, again, abang mister kaya dah jeling dah. Ciaooo

P.S: Nak balik nak tengok Alwi ='(
